Winthrop Lodge Hosting Masonic Grand Master Visit
Winthrop Lodge A F and A M hosted a special communication with a fraternal visit by Most Worshipful Dana J Flanders Grand Master of Masons in Massachusetts and suite. Four candidates received the Fellow Craft degree including Allen E Newton. The Grand Master spoke on the Charlton Masonic Home project and Lodge officers urged prompt support. A banquet followed with presentations including a gift clock to Edward B Newton from members of the lodge and chapter.

Tree Hearing Crowded as Selectmen Seek Tree Removal
In the Selectmen's room last Saturday evening a crowd of women and men discussed four petitions from the Board to Tree Warden Frank W. Tucker. The requests seek permission to remove trees along Locust Main and Pleasant streets and near the corner of Winthrop Street and Washington Avenue. Selectman Keenan spoke for the board and most attendees voiced agreement.
