Death of Mr John Leman Bemis at 63 in Winthrop Mass
John Leman Bemis died at his home Saturday June 7 at 7 30 p m services were held at Masonic Hall with Rev Waterhouse of Reading officiating. The body was interred at Winthrop cemetery after full Masonic rites. He leaves a widow a daughter in law two granddaughters and several relatives. He had worked as purchasing agent for Swift Co in Chicago before returning to Winthrop in 1900 to enter the milk business. He was born in Weston Mass in 1844 and previously lived in Waltham and Chicago. He belonged to Mizpah Lodge Chicago and the Union Avenue Methodist Church Chicago.

Winthrop Woman Killed in Stamford Wreck
Mrs Edward J Kelley wife of Edward Jackson Kelley land agent for the Canadian Pacific Railway and former Chicago resident was killed in the Stamford crash on Thursday. Kelley was injured as the couple had traveled from Boston via Hartford to New York where he was summoned for a railroad meeting. Mrs Kelley aged 28 had lived in Winthrop for 18 months after marrying in Chicago. her sister Mrs Gilbert Mougey of Chicago will join the Boston motor trip seeking family.

Alimony sought by divorced Cambridge woman after 29 years

The Winthrop lodge of Elks plans a three day circus with a Saturday matinee at River road grounds.
