Memorial Day Observed by Civil and Spanish War Veterans
Memorial Day in Winthrop featured the largest parade to date with additions from the State Guard Elks Guard Machine Gun Company and St Johns Cadets. Ives band played at Ingleside Park before veterans and civic groups marched to the Winthrop cemetery for graveside services and decorations. The procession then moved to the Soldiers monument in Columbia square where ceremonies honored Civil War and Spanish War veterans.

Winthrop High Triumphed In Track Meet Against Chelsea Revere
Winthrop High won the triangular track meet at Carter street oval, beating Chelsea and Revere with 8314 points to 4914 and 30. Stars Coppell of Revere and Foran of Winthrop led field events and sprints. Foran won the furlong and quarter mile. Coppell captured jumps and high marks. The meet featured senior intermediate and junior races with multiple titles and records set.
