Chief Buffington Seizes Gambling and Liquor Rumors in Winthrop
Police led by Chief Buffington raided suspected gambling and liquor venues last Saturday. A cottage near Crest Hall annex yielded a fixed roulette wheel and paraphernalia. owners called themselves The Automobile Club and fled. The Point Shirley cafe on Shirley Street showed little liquor, while William J. Robicheau’s Read Street premises contained a substantial liquor haul. The East Boston court session moved the case to today.
