East Boston agent promotes Hall Crest Shoes for Boys in sizes 1.7 and 2.00 with solid oak tanned soles. Advertises a glove like fit and states every pair is warranted.
Rosewood framed portraits of Sir John and Lady Temple hang in the east room as part of Winthrop house history. A set of steel engravings from calendars by New England Mutual Life Insurance Co marks the west room, tracing New England events.
Captain Emanuel Collyer aged about 70 died of pneumonia at his home 138 Crest Avenue Winthrop Beach last Friday. He sailed worldwide in earlier years and remained active. The funeral was Sunday at 2:30 pm at St Johns Episcopal Church with Rev Charles W Henry officiating. He leaves two daughters who own Hotel DeOane Crest Avenue and a son from Atlanta who attended the service. Interment followed in Winthrop Cemetery with Undertaker Bennison in charge.
The Q and Q Club met Tuesday afternoon at Mrs Bargher’s Highland Avenue home with five guests and five regular members. A letter from the Civic Committee of the Winthrop Equal Suffrage League asked aid for a Winthrop memorial bed at Elgating Hospital, to which the club offered to donate entertainment proceeds. Mrs Wright’s paper on Prose Writers of the First Half of the Eighteenth Century was praised, and the group planned to meet January 22 with Mrs Radell.

A group of Washington women forms the Army Canteen Club to restore the army canteen arguing it promotes practical temperance. They plan similar chapters in Chicago Cincinnati and parts of New York state. Members claim restoration serves genuine temperance against the “mistaken theory of temperance.”
Winthrop High School defeated Massachusetts Normal Art 28 to 18 in an afternoon game. Key players Kimball McCarthy and Sullivan starred for Winthrop while Hibbard Burnham led Normal Art. Referee Millen and scorer Levangie noted a 15 and 20 minute period format with 200 in attendance.
The French bulldog club of New England held its second annual dinner at Young's Hotel in Boston with about 60 members. Dr Eximinis of Lynn claimed a six week tally of 185 dogs killed by the current epidemic, disputed as rabies, diagnosing stonétitis and acute meningitis instead. He urged advocates for home confinement over muzzling to spare valuable dogs.
