Final Plans for Winthrop's Fete Day Parade
Winthrop braces for a Saturday August 17 parade at 2 p.m. with coaching floats hotels yacht clubs and Boston Old Home Week entries. Chairmen Power Haskell Cook and a large committee organize coaching automobile and float divisions with judges urged to attend and Winthrop town events including a band concert fireworks and illumination planned throughout the day.

Selectmen join Executive Board and parade subscription drive
The three selectmen attended the last meeting and were named to the Executive Board as vice presidents. Subscriptions will be distributed to branches at Stovers's Drug Store Hatch's Store Bristol's yard Brown's Drug Store and other locations. Fireworks on Lewis Lake are set for August 17 and subscriptions help fund them.

A Thursday evening reception at the Winthrop Yacht Club showcased a Japanese theme with an oriental hall and cherry blossom stage setting. Commodore E H Whitney led a comfortable crew in white suits as Fleming's orchestra faded from view and lanterns lit the barn dance and joss stick number.
