Easter Services At Winthrop Churches Draw Crowds
Easter Sunday at the Winthrop Methodist Church drew full pews as worshipers filled every seat and stood. Rev Waterhouse delivered a brief yet thoughtful sermon followed by a well received cantata Risen Redeemer. The eighteen member choir faced sickness and an instrument loss but still delivered a strong performance. The Sunday school concert featured class recitations songs and a chorus with notable soloists and organizers.

Town Meeting Approves Sewer and School Fund Requests
A town meeting held Tuesday in the high hall approved two articles. Dr. E F Gage was elected moderator. Voted to authorize borrowing 650 for a Pleas ant Park road sewer and 17000 to complete the high school building per 1907 warrants.

St John’s Episcopal Church held well attended services with limited entry at the 10 30 service despite expanded seating. The Easter ritual featured lilies flowers and choir music while the Sunday school was filled and each child received an Easter plant. Easter music will be repeated on Sunday April 7.

Thirteenth Q and Q Club Meeting Recap
The Q and Q Club met at Mrs Jacobs home on Quincy avenue with absent president and vice president. Secretary presided and thanked the entertainment committee and Highland Orchestra for a successful gentlemen’s night. The group discussed business, planned the annual lunch, and noted Mrs Burgher’s Walter Scott paper as a standout. The next meeting would be with Mrs Tyler on April 16.

76th Leaves Winthrop For Fort Braccus Florida
The 76th Company stationed in Winthrop marched to the old steamboat wharf with the Fort band to board the Kilpatrick transport. The war department ordered northern fortifications troops moved to southern forts and the Kilpatrick will bring various companies north or south as needed. The trip includes stops at Portland Newport and New York with several companies boarding and disembarking along the way.
