Richard O. Hood 61 of Winters died at 4 30 am Sept 16 at North Runnels Hospital from injuries suffered in an auto crash Sept 9 He was born Aug 27 1914 in Claude and married Velma Mann in 1940 He moved to Winters 1951 and worked at Johns International Inc He is survived by his wife a son Jerry Hood two daughters Betty Hood and Mrs Charles Bahlman a brother W N Hood a sister Mrs Homer Hodge and four grandchildren Funeral services were held at 10 30 am Thursday at the Main Street Church of Christ with Paul Wallace and Glenn Gray officiating Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery Spill Funeral Home directed the services
Clifton Davis wife Lettie Alma Cottress born 1901 in Alabama died at 4 p.m. Tuesday of last week in North Runnels Hospital after a brief illness. Service at First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Crooks and Rev. Chaffin with burial in Northview. Survived by two daughters Joyce Skinner Austin and Venita Worthington Fresno. a daughter-in-law Charlotte Davis Winters. sisters Mrs. Irving Dean Santa Anna and Mrs. Louis Weston Fallbrook. six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Pallbearers listed.
Walnut Springs visitors Mr and Mrs Lewis Hensley call on Duncan Hensley and I G Hensley homes. Midland guests L C Briley Bryan stay with Mrs W W Wheat. Monroe visitors Mr and Mrs Fred Leonard visit Clay Allen family. Monty England returns from Wasco to join relatives. St John Lutheran Ladies Aid Circle meets September 5 at 2 pm in church fellowship hall with Mrs Walter Gerhart presiding and program chair Mrs Robert Gerhart. Members attend on birthdays in September.
The Ophelia group of the First United Methodist Women met at Mrs. Carl Baldwin's home with Mrs. Middlebrook presiding. Guests included M. E. Leeman Arch Hood Fred Young Alfred Rose Elmo Mayhew Eva Kelly M. L. Dobbins and Margarite Mathis. Programs covered One Nation Under God interdependence the Bill of Rights and Christian patriotism.
Hawaii imported pineapple from the Caribbean and ukulele from Portugal, while grass skirts arrive from Samoa as part of the island’s trade mix.
Homer Hodge expresses gratitude for prayers cards visits and concern during his surgery and recovery. He thanks everyone for the strength and encouragement shown during this time.
Mrs. Ethel Alice McNeill 68 of Abilene and formerly Winters died Friday at Hendrick Memorial Hospital Abilene Services were 11 a m Monday at First Baptist Church Abilene with 2 p m graveside at Winters Fairview Cemetery She was born January 3 1907 in Pioneer and lived in Abilene for years Surviving family includes sons Jerry McNeill Austin and Virtus E Gideon Fort Worth mother Minnie McDonald Colorado City sisters Woodrow McHugh Eunice NM and C B Webb Colorado City brother W A McDonald Ballinger and three grandchildren Her husband Clovis died in 1951.
