The Winters Enterprise lists subscription rates for one year in Runnels and adjoining counties and in other Texas counties. It states tax inclusion for out of state residents and invites corrections to any erroneous reflections upon character or reputation upon notice to the editor.
Drasco Community held its annual homecoming at the Winters Community Center with eighty attendees including residents former residents and friends. O. C. Hill led singing and gave a welcome. M A T Williams read names of the deceased while honors went to the oldest man Milt Bridwell oldest woman Ella Griffith Goble and the guest from farthest distance Mrs Annie Rich Oliver of Los Angeles.
Mattie Cooke, veteran Winters teacher and principal, recalls 1921 22 when a cyclone struck the last day of school killing nine and injuring twenty while the Miles bank failed. Trustees included John Simecek A W Matejowsky and A W Roach. Students walked or rode carts. the next year a new central campus opened near Simecek land.
Miss Joy Lynn Awalt and Dane Bishop married in Austin at 2 PM on Saturday August 23. Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Wilkerson and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Calabro. Both spouses are Winters High School graduates. she studied at Durham's Business College and he attends Angelo State University. They reside at 1015 Pecos, San Angelo. Acknowledgments from the Smith family express thanks for flowers memorials and food with a hopeful motto about faith love and peace.
