The Ophelia Group of Winters First United Methodist Church met Tuesday in Mrs. Elmo Mayhew’s home with Mrs. M. G. Middlebrook presiding. Mrs. M. L. Dobbins led a discussion on Liberty and the Middle Class from Bicentennial Broadside. Other participants included Mesdames Lee man, Arch Hood, Eva Kelly, arl Baldwin, John Schaffrina and Miss Margarite Mathis.
Several Winters exhibitors placed in the State Fair Stock Show in Dallas. In the Junior Lamb Show Doug Bryan's Suffolk Crossbred earned second with Becky Bryan's lamb third. Doug Bryan also had the seventh place lamb. In Class 12 the Southdown purebred or grade show Bill Bredemeyer showed a lamb to ninth in a field of 20.
U S Congressman Bob Krueger announced Daniel Dutko of San Angelo will serve as District Administrative Assistant for the 21st District covering Del Rio New Braunfels and San Angelo and 31 counties. He replaces Tom Henderson who resigns to join the Comptroller’s office. Dutko, former field manager for a sixteen county office, is a Angelo State University graduate and a Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities honoree.
The Susie Baker Group of the First United Methodist Church met Tuesday morning at Mrs. Gladys Wilson home with Mrs. Thad Traylor presiding. Mrs Lucille Rogers led the opening prayer and Mrs. Wilson had charge of the program with seven members present.
The Winters Independent School District Board votes to comply with Title 9 requirements and states no discrimination in personnel hiring based on sex race ethnic origin or religion. Coleman visitors Randall Watson Terry Lorri from Coleman visit Smith family in Coleman over the weekend. Card of thanks expresses gratitude for kindnesses shown after a death and hospital stay including flowers cards and prayers.
