The Lamplighters Group of the United Methodist Church met Tuesday morning at Mrs. Melvin Mapes home. Mrs Vada Babston led the opening prayer and Mrs Roy Crawford presented the lesson Poems On Autumn. Mrs H C Abbott gave the devotional. Nine members attended.
The Be Busy Sewing Club gathered at Mrs. Fred Poe's home for an afternoon of hand work. Attendees included Mesdames Vada Babston M H Hogan George Lloyd Nadine Smith Yallie Brannon Millorn and Mr. Poe. The next meeting is planned for October 27 at Mrs Geone Lloyd's home.
Winters unable to contest Hamlin as the Pied Pipers dominate with 19 first downs and 314 rushing yards to blow past the Blizzards 59 to 8. Marvin Moore leads Winters with a four yard TD run and two extra points, Leroy Jones bags 56 receiving yards, and Jack Fairey earns a Big Hit award as Hamlin outgains Winters in every quarter.
Albert L. Lewis, 63, died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday in North Runnels Hospital after an admission of under two hours. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Drasco Baptist Church with Rev. James Vermillion officiating. burial in Pumphrey Cemetery. He was born July 2, 1912 in Atlanta Texas and lived on a Drasco area farm until retirement in 1972 before moving to Winters. Survivors include his wife Viola Kirby Lewis, two sons Captain Cliff Lewis of Warrensburg Missouri and Terry Lewis of Abilene, four daughters Melba Lewis of Houston Neva Lewis of Winters and two others, one sister in Winters, eight grandchildren. Pallbearers listed.
