The Chancel Guild of St John’s Lutheran Church met in the parsonage May 23 at 8 30 with Mrs L R Hoppe leading devotion The month’s topic Some Other Churches was led by Mrs Walter Probst and all ladies participated Mrs T F Hantsche acted as secretary in Mrs L E Jacob’s absence After business nine members were served refreshments by Mrs Walter Probst and Mrs L R Hoppe

Fire Auxiliary Demonstrates Bread Making Skills

Miss Jimmie Templeton of San Angelo home economist for Lone Star Gas Co. led a bread making demonstration for Winters Fireman's Auxiliary in the Winters School Home Making Cottage. She showed using canned biscuits and rolls and served the breads with iced tea and coffee to members and guests. Attendants included Mrs. Edward Orwell and others.

Mary Martha Circle Meeting at First Methodist Church Parlor

Members of the Mary Martha Circle of the Woman's Society of Christian Service met in the church parlor with Mrs Shook as hostess. Mrs J D Vinson presided and Miss Frances Stricklin led the opening prayer. A brief business session followed as Mrs Garrett read poems and Mrs Shaffrina presented the program from The World Outlook. Cookies coffee and fruit juice were served to Mesdames Nichols Daniels Denton Stanley and two visitors Neely and Mitchell.

Officers Installed At Diversity Club Meeting

The Diversity Club met May 23 at 3:15 p.m. at the Huffman House for officer installation and the last meeting of the year. Mrs. C. R. Bellis hosted. prior to the session refreshments were served. The club voted to donate 40 to the International Friendship Garden near Brownsville Texas. Mrs. C. R. Kendrick led the installation, assigning colors to each post for the 1968 69 year. The next meeting was planned for September 1968.

Wingate Community Notes Update and Local Visits

Mrs Carl Green left Tuesday for Oklahoma City to undergo eye treatment. Duncan Hensley remains a surgical patient at St John Hospital San Angelo with slight improvement. Residents attended singing at Shepp Community Center Monday night. Visitors at Edwin Voss home included Mr and Mrs Heney Vogler Mrs Ralph Watson and Mrs Lindsey. Mrs Charlie Polk of Stanton visited the Enoc Doggetts Emma Doggett and Mrs Annie Phillips with Granny Sliger. Mrs Holder not improving. Homecoming at Wingate school set for Sunday June 2. Mr A Dooley's mother passed away. Burnel visited Hamilton Tuesday. Mr Dooley formerly Wingate school superintendent now in Christoval. Mr and Mrs Dewitt Bryan and children made a business trip to San Angelo Monday and stayed with Mr and Mrs Charles Bryan. Larry Hensley is at St John Hospital with his mother and father. Flags placed on veterans graves at Wingate Thursday. Cemetery upkeep praised. caretaker L S Morris noted.
