Friendly Ladies Class Party At First Methodist Church

Members of the Friendly Ladies class of the First Methodist Church held a class party in the church parlor Friday evening with Mrs. Fred Young presiding. Rev. Edward Orwell spoke on Christ Over Light as officers were installed and Mrs. D W Williams sang a solo. Frosted punch and cookies were served to many members and a visiting Rev Otwell.

FBI lists James Earl Ray on Ten Most Wanted Fugitives

The FBI adds James Earl Ray alias Eric Starve Galt to the Ten Most Wanted list for the King assassination, with a Birmingham 1968 federal warrant charging conspiracy to interfere with civil rights. Ray escaped Missouri Penitentiary in 1967 and is described as armed and dangerous.

Members Runnels County Archery Assn At Shoot

Seven members of the Runnels County Archery Association attended an invitational in San Angelo on Sunday and all won trophies. Don Vinson led with first in B freestyle, Jerry Whitlow won first in C freestyle, Marvin Clark took first in C bare bow, while Mrs. Don Vinson, Mrs. Jerry Whitlow, and Mrs. Marvin Clark earned top spots in various women's bare bow and free style classes. The Winters Archers also competed in the West Texas Archery League with several leaders including Buster Clark in youth division.

Runnels County Oil and Gas Wells Generate $11.5 Million Yearly

An Texas Mid-Continent Oil Gas Association study shows Runnels County crude oil valued at $10.9 million in 1966 and natural gas at $66 008. The county produced about 3.7 million barrels of oil and 4.6 billion cubic feet of gas, supporting employment and local taxes. 179 direct jobs, $1 million payroll, and two gas plants with 32 million cf day capacity are noted.

San Souci Dinner Club Meets at Neely Home

The Sans Souci forty two dinner club gathered Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gattis Neely with co hosts Mr. and Mrs. B. T. Gardner. Dinner featured buffet service at four tables with pink rose centerpiece. Attendees included J. W. Bahlman La Dell Davis Fred Young Raymond Lloyd W. F. Minzenmayer Harry Herman and George Poe. Forty two games followed the meal concluding the season with plans to resume in fall.

St John Evening Circle Meets at Lisso Home

Members of the St John Lutheran Church Evening Circle met at the Lisso home with Helen Lisso as hostess. Mrs Walter Probst Sr led Bible study and a question answer session followed. Officers and members conducted roll call gave reports and refreshments were served to attendees.

The Sew and Sew Club gathered at Mrs. John Byrd's home with thirteen members and four visitors. Quilting and pillowcase making were done for the hostess, followed by coffee and punch refreshments.
