Funeral of Mrs M Cann Held Here Today
News reached Winters of the death of Alma Gee McCann in Detroit. Her body arrived in Abilene and funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Winters with Rev. Hal F. Smith officiating. Interment followed in Old Cemetery. Survivors include husband A F McCann father W H Gee and brothers Ed and Albert Gee. Out of town mourners came from Spur Gustine and Jayton.

Last Sunday a large crowd gathered at the Winters Methodist church for the baccalaureate service for Winters High School graduates. Rev H H Stephens of the Baptist church delivered the sermon on Jesus Christ as the greatest teacher. The program included an eight piece orchestra, solos by Mrs W S Jackson and Mrs A H Smith on piano, and a double quartet led by Mrs Ruth Ramsell singing The Holy City. Invocations by Rev Gid J Bryan and scripture reading by Rev Hal F Smith accompanied the event.

Mr and Mrs R T Lewis were driving home near C Kornegays when a man leaped on the running board at midnight last Monday. He grabbed Mrs Lewis by the arm. Mr Lewis sped the car, throwing the intruder off. The assailant vanished into the night.

Prominent Citizen Dies at Wilmeth
J. W. Moreland, a prominent citizen of Wilmeth, died Tuesday May 26 at age seventy five after long residence in the Wilmeth community. Funeral services were led by Rev. Foster of Abilene, with interment in Winters cemetery. Spill Bros. Funeral Directors handled arrangements. Survived by six children, five sons and one daughter. Enterprise extends heartfelt sympathy.
