Panhandle Pheasant Prospects Appear Bright
The Panhandle in Texas shows a healthy pheasant population with a thriving local colony. Mild weather and good holdover birds plus expected wheat yields suggest a strong hunting season next fall. Landowners are urged to keep weedy cover for nesting and to plant trees and shrubs for food and shelter. A recent nine day season in the Regulatory District yielded modest bag limits of two cock pheasants per day and four in possession.
