Mrs Gannaway Former Winters Resident Dies in Colorado

Lucy Ann Gannaway 85 former Winters resident died Friday in Valley High Nursing Home Denver Colorado after a short illness. Funeral services were held Monday at Chapel Hill Memorial Chapel and burial followed at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Littleton Colorado. Born February 23 1884 in Detroit Texas she lived in Winters 50 years before moving to Denver in 1963 to be with her daughter Jerrilee Pierce She was active in Winters First Presbyterian Church She survived by son Robert Gannaway Winnetka NL three daughters Jerrilee Pierce Evelyn Gannaway Dorice Lepore eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

David Preston Gray Returns to USS Suribachi

Fireman Apprentice David Preston Gray returned to his assignment on the USS Suribachi after two weeks leave with his parents Mrs. and Mrs. J. C. Gray Sr. He completed nine weeks of training in Orlando Florida before leave. The USS Suribachi is in dry dock at Alabama Drydock in Mobile Alabama with Mayport Florida listed as the home port.
