Texas honors Flynt grave with historical marker
The Texas State Historical Survey Committee awarded a historical grave marker for James Petty Flynt in Evergreen Cemetery Ballinger Runnels County. Flynt served as sheriff from 1908 to 1914 and 1920 to 1924 and held roles with the Texas Ranger service during both World Wars. He was tax collector sheriff last in the county and helped with the County Fair Association and the State Game Department. He married Carrie Jane Patterson in 1899 and had seven children.
