In Baird Texas, 11:28 p.m. shooting leaves W. F. Roten and his estranged wife Gladys Roten dead. Roten died about 3 hours later. the couple, once linked to Winters, had been separated briefly with no children reported. An inquest deemed the deaths from gunshot wounds inflicted by Roten and by self-inflicted wound.

Information from Winters reports Messrs W S Galloway and Hill and Hill's son were en route to San Marcos when their Ford sedan rolled over. Hill was pinned beneath the vehicle and unconscious for about thirty minutes. Hill's son escaped uninjured. Galloway sustained facial cuts and bruises.
