Parks Commission Announces Texas Beach Park Purchases
Texas Parks Commissioners revealed two major moves. Jefferson County will gain 14 360 acres with a 5.5 mile waterway to the beach for a new state park south of Port Arthur, while Mustang Island near Corpus Christi will become another coastal park after a court delay. The Mustang deal, about 600 000 under the original price, reflects a survey showing less land than planned though per acre price remains 1 100. The state confirms a binding contract with Mrs. Sam E Wilson Jr. and Attorney General Crawford Martin reaffirms the ruling. Texas Farm and Ranch Safety Week highlights rising farm and ranch deaths from fires drownings machinery and other accidents amid calls to focus public attention on safety.
