Fort Worth Livestock Market Sees Large Supply and Lower Hog Prices
Ft Worth cattle and sheep numbers were above normal on the first marketing day of the year with yearlings and heifers showing light feeding. Cattle prices were largely steady to lower, with stocker and feeder demand brisk and fat cows and bulls priced around 10 to 13 dollars. Hog prices fell about 25 cents with top hogs at 18.25 dollars as midwest runs weighed on the market. Texas hog growers remain advantaged despite rising production, due to still-lean pork supplies and out-of-state imports.
