1975 Texas Legislature Prepares For Action Packed Session
Texas lawmakers brace for a busy 1975 session. Rep. Bill Clayton of Spring Lake aims to become House Speaker January 14 and shape standing committees, while Lt. Gov. Bill Hobby plans no major committee shakeups in the Senate. Key items include school finance reform constitutional revision and a state utilities commission. Inflation in home insurance rises statewide 19.3 percent effective January 20, with variations by policy type and region. Texas economy faces a potential downturn as TIC notes cautious business activity despite moderate unemployment and shifting plant locations. Political and legal opinions touch on agency transparency and regulatory limits.
