A 1972 shipment estimate near 575 900 units marks a 16 percent rise from 496 570 the year before but growth slows amid overbuilding and rising shelter output. Analysts warn market saturation could come sooner than expected as apartments compete with mobile homes.
Local social visits are reported across Abilene and surrounding towns with families such as the Kirbys Hillls Foremans Alexander Alborns and Brevards mentioned. Mr and Mrs H M Jiggs Nichols and Dusty spent the weekend in Waco where Dusty took part in a band workshop at Baylor University. The event prepares for the All State Band rehearsal and concert set for San Antonio February 8 9 10.
Former Winters resident Mrs. John Boyd Neill 92 died in a Midland nursing home. Born May 10 1880 in Downie she lived in Corsicana Winters and Midland. She leaves four sons Martin Ernest Paul and Garth all of Midland two daughters Mrs Ira Bounds of Midland and Mrs Gladys Smith of Media plus many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Elizabeth Thomas Ray 64 died at M D Anderson Hospital Houston at 4 30 am Monday after months of illness. Funeral held 10 am Thursday at Spill Memorial Church Winters with Rev Harry Grantz officiating. Burial in Crews Cemetery. Survivors include three sons Victor Houston Ivy Lee Germany Jerry Dallas and four daughters plus a brother and grandchildren. Pallbearers listed.
The Wingate 4-H Horse Club met at the Baize home on January 24 and held a horse safety program led by Teresa Dean and Jill Walker. Members and visiting guests attended, including Patti Walker Melinda Hill Teresa Dean Jill Walker Dianne Baize Larry Walker Belinda Hill Donald Baize Bill Wayne Walker John Stuart Sue Walker Sharon Lynn Steve Pritchard David Bachman Ricky and Leslie Dunlap and many parents.
