Texas Highway Dept reports 41st year totals and funding split

State Highway Engineer D. C. Greer announced the Texas Highway Department completed its 41st year of operation. He said 80 percent of funds were for construction, 13 percent for maintenance, less than two thirds of one percent for administration, and six and one third percent for patrol and miscellaneous operations. Over 41 years 70 percent funded construction. Last year revenue came from license plates 19 percent, gasoline tax 32 percent, federal 43 percent, and 6 percent from others.

Texas Agricultural Extension Service releases MP-80 a practical guide for estimating return to labor and management in Central and East Texas. Authored by Tom E. Prater Sidney L. Jenkins and other Texas A&M staff the manual budgets ten enterprises to a goal of 2500 dollars and lists expenses and income for each. It covers cow calf timber sheep feeder pigs slaughter hogs egg and poultry and dairy operations with space to input local figures and compare results.
