UT Professor Proposes Sewage Gas Could Power Plants
University of Texas professor Ernest Gloyna tells the Texas Water Quality Board that gas from decomposing sewage can supply up to two thirds of the power for sewage plants. He notes sludge gas is not new and outlines a $5,000 study to assess practicality and new production methods. Gas is about 70 percent methane and 30 percent carbon dioxide. A 40,000 population city could recover enough gas daily to replace 200 to 300 gallons of gasoline.

Highway bids delayed by fuel price and availability
Highway Engineer Luther De Berry says firm commitments on fuel prices and supply are unavailable. As a result, December bidding projects will be carried over on a priority basis and some will be moved to the January setting list.
