The Chamber outlines year long work via standing committees on Agriculture, membership and finance, roads, city improvements, reception and entertainment, and trade extension. A September 6 membership banquet and a cooperative plan to place cotton pickers and farm laborers will coordinate help for workers and employers in the region. First bale of 1925 cotton crop received at Winters
Yesterday afternoon the first bale of 1925 cotton arrived seven miles southeast of Winters on the D. J. Goetz place. Weighing 401 pounds with 1140 pounds of seed, it graded strict middling and sold to H. C. Jones for 26 cents per pound. A second bale followed from 4 1 2 miles southeast brought by G. A. Prucer, weighing 441 pounds from 1870 pounds seed, with a bid by C. Kornegay at 25 cents. The Chamber of Commerce plans a premium split 60 40 for the owners.
