Mrs. Juanita OConnor outlines halibut as a premier white flesh fish from cold North Pacific waters. She notes plentiful supply, seasonal harvest, and storage by freezing, with recipes for bouillon based chowder and broiled halibut steaks serving six.
Patricia Elaine Paske and Donald Eugene Peterson pledged marriage at First Methodist Church on Friday April 12 in a double ring ceremony officiated by Rev. Edward Orwell. The couple, with families from Winters and Lebanon, planned a wedding party including ushers, bridesmaids, a flower girl, and a ring bearer. The bride wore peau de soie with venise lace and a pearl crown veil, carried a Colonial bouquet, and a reception followed at the church parlor. The bride is a Winters High School graduate working for Western Auto, the groom a Lebanon High School graduate now in the U S Army. The couple will reside in Petersburg Virginia after a Southern States wedding trip.
School lunch offerings list daily choices for April 22 to 26. Menu includes hot dogs or combination sandwich, pork and noodle casserole, fried steak, chili beans with grilled cheese, and salmon croquettes with sides. Desserts include Daisy cake, chocolate fudge cake, peanut butter cookies, and apple pie.
The St John’s Lutheran Evening Circle gathered at Mrs Minnie Belitz home with Belitz hosting. Bible study led by Mrs Willis Whittenberg examined God Speaks To Me in the Psalms while Mrs Erwin Schroeder gave an offering meditation. Members voted to donate to Trinity Lutheran Home and to sponsor hospital supplies religious and children’s books Bibles and money for the Navajo Lutheran Mission in Chinle Arizona.
Mrs. W. M. Allen of 408 North Rogers received a birthday dinner Sunday hosted by her children and many relatives from Winters Hamby Valera Hastings McMurry College Santa Anna Midland Coleman and Abilene. The gathering included Vernon Allen Floyd Allen Selinda Johnny and others with extended family and friends present.
Mrs Etta Bryant hosted the Be Busy Sewing Club on Monday with handwork for the hostess and a short business session. Refreshments were served to members including G T Shott M H Hogan M G Roper Becky Poe Bill Millorn L B Blackmon Vada Babston and Louella Wilson. Next meeting set for April 29 at the home of Mr and Mrs George Lloyd.
A social gathering offered candy Easter eggs and punch to Mesdames Lawrence Shipman Daniel Waggoner E A Voelker W H Cole Lora Coupland and Miss Emma Henniger during a community event hosted by local organizers.
Air pollution rules set to take effect on 1968 model cars and light gas powered trucks cut tailpipe hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide emissions by about half and eliminate crankcase emissions.
Mr and Mrs Albert Wuistinger announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Patsy Ann to Johnny Pat Beck son of Mr and Mrs Richard Beck of Wingate. The ceremony is set for June 1 at 7 p m in St John s Lutheran Church Winters. Patsy will graduate from Winters High School May 24 1968 and Johnny is a Winters High School graduate class of 1966. He works at Dry Manufacturing Company and they will reside in Winters.
