Minneapolis June 25 The Washington special reports Senate amendments seek 50000 for an Indian industrial school near Bismarck North Dakota and 5000 to continue the Devils Lake school by Catholic Sisters of Charity. Pettigrew backs 50000 for a Flandreau school and favors a Fort Ellis grant with land to South Dakota militia. Moody proposes 450000 for irrigation, including 250000 for artesian basin underflow and wells, under Agriculture Secretary supervision, a move that again defeats Powell geological survey.

House Committee Reports Silver Bill Non-Concurrence

The house committee on coinage weights and measures votes 6 to 5 to report the silver bill back to the house with a recommendation that senate amendments be non concurred in and a conference asked. Absent were Walker and Mutchler. The rules committee adjourns to discuss the election bill and will seek a resolution for consideration this week.

Senate approves postal and pension bills after conference

In Washington on June 25 the senate passed the post office appropriation bill with an amendment for postal agents on ships between German and American ports. The diplomatic and consular appropriation bill also passed. The pension bill goes to the president after receding from two added pension agents. House adjourns at 6 p.m.

Walshington June 25 At a meeting of the houses committee on judiciary it decided to report a substitute for the senate original package bill The substitute applies to all articles of commerce while the senate bill targeted only fermented distilled and other intoxicating liquors Representative Reed of Iowa will prepare the report Adams of Illinois was the only member who voted against the resolution likely to prepare a minority report No discrimination allowed favoring citizens or own products nor obstruction of transportation except to enforce state health laws

Twenty Named on Census From Vacant Minneapolis Lots

Pioneer Press Washington special reports Special Agent Boudinot found twenty names on Minneapolis census rolls with accredited residences on vacant lots. Rail mail thefts exceed half a million dollars in losses

At Wyandotte Junction a series of stolen mail pouches on the Rock Island and Burlington routes led to over five hundred thousand dollars in checks drafts and money vanishing during transit between Council Bluffs and Davenport. Northwestern Will Push Its Road Through Pierre to Rapid City
