Wall Street reports Charles Francis Adams Jr will succeed Sidney Dillon as president of the Union Pacific. Directors are slated to meet next Thursday. In Wacetie West Virginia a nine year old boy Walter Terrell was injured when a brewery wagon wheels ran over his head during a Fifth street coasting accident. doctors fear the injuries are fatal.
New York tea broker Benjamin Frank Smith, who vanished after leaving New York Friday evening, has returned to his home in New York. His wife, Mrs. Builth, had received a telegram from Philadelphia saying she was in Philadelphia and did not know how or why she had come. She then located him in Philadelphia and brought him back. He appeared in good health and could only recall leaving New York Friday evening. The hotel clerks reported no peculiar behavior.
A large crowd gathered outside Richmond jail as Joseph Poole was hanged for the murder of Johny Kenney in Dublin in 1882. The procession included officials and warders, with Poole exhibited stoically before the fatal beam.
