Death of C. B. Newell former Franklin legislator
Ex representative Charles B. Newell of Rowe died Wednesday November 1. A Whitingham native he worked as a milk dealer in Boston in the 1860s and later ran hardware and grocery ventures with his brother John at Shelburne Falls from 1885 to 1876. He also grocered in Cambridge before buying a farm in Rowe in 1892 and living there since. He served as First Franklin district representative in 1891.

Vermont Red Cross Organizes New Branch in Burlington
The Vermont branch of the American National Red Cross was organized in Burlington on a Wednesday evening in November with 30 members. Dr. H. D. Holton of Brattleboro served as temporary chairman and was elected president. Officers include President Dr. Holton, Vice President OU A. Woodbury, Secretary C. S. Forbes, Treasurer G. L. Alexander, with an executive committee listing De Holton and others. A finance committee and a county representation membership committee were planned.

Death of Burton Perry at Brattleboro home
Burton Perry aged 4 died this morning at his parents home in Dummerston from paralysis. Born in Putney June 1, he was son of Zenas H. and Mary Shaw Perry. The family moved to Hinsdale New Hampshire in 1379. He graduated Hinsdale High School and became a pharmacist, working six years in a Dalto p Mass drug store. He later moved to Brattleboro to work at Brooks House pharmacy. In August 1899 he suffered a paralysis shock from which he never recovered. A week ago yesterday he had a stroke and had been feeble since. He was a Red Man member and described as a promising young man. Besides his parents he leaves a brother George Perry of Clinton Massachusetts and a sister Mrs Lydia Brown of Millers Falls Massachusetts. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at o'clock with Rev J D King of Putney officiating.
