The community learned at noon of Col Lewis T Moore's death from paralysis after a knee injury worsened during a walk on Ronss Avenue. He served as major then colonel in the 31st and 4th Virginia Infantry, fought at Manassas, and was active in Hiram Lodge and Winchester Commandery. Survived by a widow and six children. burial services led by Hiram Lodge.

Fire damages cellar residence on Washington Street
At noon today a fire was discovered in the cellar of Mr. Lucien Carr’s house at the corner of Washington and Clifford streets. The alarm was sent in and the fire department arrived quickly, extinguishing the blaze.
