Winchester Prepares to Host Virginia Synod Meeting in 1903
After morning service a congregational meeting decided to invite the Virginia Synod to meet in Winchester in 1903. Rev. Dr. James R. Graham or Rev. J. S. Sibley will present the invitation at the Norfolk sessions starting October 21. The Synod, large and regionally diverse, has not met in Winchester since 1889.

Narrowly Escaped Instant Death Near Berryville Show Race
Two young men, Fred Grim and Harry Leafe, were badly injured in a runaway horse accident near the Berryville Colt Show race track. The buggy crashed after the horse plunged, leaving Grim with a broken left arm and leg injuries plus a deep gash, while Leafe sprained his left hip and injured his left leg. Companions arrived quickly and transported them to Winchester for medical care.

Teachers Selected In Back Creek District Schools
The Back Creek District School Board selected 14 teachers for the district with 16 schools, two of which lack staff. School opens the last Monday in October and runs five months.
