Edward Newbrough Crebs of Kernstown died in St. Louis from injuries after a gas lamp explosion. He was 48, never married, and planned to be buried beside his mother in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Surviving relatives include his father, a brother J N Crebs Jr of St Louis, and sister Miss Kate Crebs of Washington DC. Funeral services are set for Kernstown and interment will occur in Winchester with Rev H M White officiating.

No White Man Refused a Vote in City Ward Registrations
The Board of Registrars opened registration in the First and Third wards last night from 7 to 9 pm, registering 41 and 40 voters respectively with few refusals, all colored applicants being denied in the Third Ward. By the Fourth Ward session 61 white and one colored were recorded. total city registration reaches 143. Next Monday four ward boards will meet again. No white applicant has been refused, most qualifying under veteran or tax clauses, while four colored applicants were refused in the Third Ward for noncompliance with constitutional provisions.

Winchester Firemen Attend Berryville Bazaar
The Rouss Hook and Ladder Company of Winchester with Capt. Henry Schneider sent 27 uniformed men to Berryville to attend a bazaar benefiting the Berryville Fire Department. The visitors were greeted by Berryville officials and escorted through town to Winston Hall where the event was held. Chief John H. Enders welcomed the guests and the evening proceeded with entertainment and generous attendance. The Winchester contingent, hailed as unprecedented honor for a neighboring town’s firemen, departed Berryville shortly before midnight.
