Lightning Strikes Farm Causes Shocks to Hawkins Family
Nat Hawkins and his wife survived a Saturday electrical storm that struck their Byrnes farm on the unnamed road. A cow was killed, the barn injured, and six other cows stunned. a corn crib also damaged. The storm also lightly damaged Dr. Fred Cochran’s barn at Clearbrook and struck the Cambellites Church at Bartonville in the county.

The funeral for Lewis W. Grim, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Grim, killed yesterday when he fell from a telephone pole at Washington and Water streets, will be held at 10:30 tomorrow at Centenary Reformed Church. Rev. T. K. Cromer will lead services with Rev. Dr. J A Lacy assisting. Charley Rouss Fire Company, of which Grim was a member, will attend in a body. He leaves three brothers Ray Clarence and Morris and a sister Ethel. his father is a Winchester woodworker. Community friends have visited the Grim home at 123 East Germain Street to offer support.

Rock Enon Springs Virginia June 20 funeral services for Mr Elliott were held at Rock Enon Church with interment in the adjoining graveyard. Undertakers Funk and Son of Winchester conducted the burial. A large gathering of family and friends attended the ceremony. Casket adorned with many floral designs. Mr Elliott was a well known citizen with numerous friends. Mr F D Goode, a Capon River farmer, lost about 20 acres of wheat and hay worth over $1,000.
