Mrs. Garton aged 62 died after a lingering illness at her home on Market Street. Born Winchester 1848, she married F Garton in 1868 in Frederick Maryland. Survived by daughter Mrs Wied and other relatives, services held with Christian fortitude as family and friends gathered at her bedside. Continued on page 5.
Telegram from Memphis announces the death of 3 H. Savage at age 69 after typhoid fever. He served in the Federal army, managed the National Cemetery in Winchester and later Memphis, leaving two daughters from his first marriage and one from the second. Burial arrangements pending as remams will be sent here.
Nemo reflects on the Oberammergau Passion Play, noting its unique, sacred tradition since 1634. The village vowed to stage the holy drama every ten years, performed by villagers chosen for purity of life, without wealth or fame, to honor the Cross amid the mountains.
A severe electric and rain storm struck Stephens City Virginia on Saturday from 1 PM to 11 PM with a 15 minute hail spell around 9 30 PM. Crops suffered minor damage and residents recall an exceptionally long thunderstorm.
Lewis Grim 18, son of Mr and Mrs William Grim of Germain street, was fatally injured while painting a telephone box at the corner of Washington and Water streets. He died soon after at his home. Coroner's inquest found death due to electrical shock from a live wire, with conflicting reports about balance before the fall. Grim was a worker for Gard Hillyard. active in Centenary Reformed Church and local fire company. survived by parents and several brothers.

Mr J B Correll received word from Mr Fo Re Rooney timekeeper for Irmin Bros that Irwin junior and his son Edward Irwin Sr have died in the Miami river at Middletown Ohio. The boy about ten years old drowned after cramps while bathing and the father perished while trying to save him. Felix d Irwin brother of the deceased and Mr Bryan and Mr Gallagher with their wives departed for Ohio to attend the funerals set for Tuesday.

After a long illness Mr. D H Bragonier died at his home 321 Braddock Street Winchester in his early sixties He served as a police judge and was a respected figure among his associates A Confederate veteran from Jefferson County who fought in the Tenth Virginia Cavalry under Gen Lafayette later a successful lawyer He is mourned by the local community and will have services led by Rev W D at Christ Protestant church.
In Woodstock Virginia on June 20 Dr J F Triplett dynamited a river dam to protect his hydro electric plant two miles east of town. The blast created a deep chasm and left the powerhouse on a small island, threatening local power as the Rush mill site and dam approach were undermined by flood waters. The Valley Light and Power project near H B Cc farm suffered damage with cement and lumber washed away. Two carloads of cement were reportedly lost.
Mrs Louise Miller wife of William Luther Miller died at home west of Whitacre Virginia after a day of sudden coma She was 60 daughter of John Mellon and Mrs Edwards Survived by her husband three full brothers Harvey Timore Marcus Edward and half siblings Lemuel Mellon Albaugh and George Funeral at Fairview Church led by Rev P J Lawrence and Rev G A McGuire with service continuation noted on page
