A progress report on the Harris case shows jurors advancing in the trial as state prosecutors and defense counsel prepare closing arguments. The court session proceeded without major incident and a verdict is anticipated.
The trial of Prof. J. D. Harris for the killing of Editor W. A. Thompson on Main Street Warrenton Virginia began in the Circuit Court of Prince William County at Manassas with Hon Richard Evelyn Byrd as lead counsel for the accused. This is Harris second jury after a Fauquier verdict of voluntary manslaughter that was set aside by a Court of Appeals and moved to remain where the crime occurred.
Berryville Virginia June 14 The marriage of Miss Francesa Kaspar a leading singer from Washington to Dr Huron W Lawson of that city is announced for September. After marriage she will abandon the stage but keep her position as Golpist in the Metropolitan Church. Kaspar has summers in the Blue Ridge in Clarke and Loudoun counties and many friends in this area.
A charter is granted to the South Branch Power Company of Martinsburg to build a water power plant on the South Branch of the Potomac near Romney and to sell electricity. Capital stock is 5 000 dollars. Incorporators are John W. Dodd J O Henson William Downey Gray Silver of Martinsburg and George H Johnson of Romney. The project aims to develop river power on Mr Dodd's property in Hampshire county as discussed by The Star.

John W. Elliott 73 died at his home near Rock Enon Springs on Monday afternoon after months of illness from kidney liver and heart trouble. He suffered a severe hemorrhage last Wednesday and remained conscious until death. He was the son of the late William Elliott and lived his entire life in the area.
The Friendship reel team will practice on South Main street tonight at 7 o clock. The team aims to perform well at the Harrisonburg contest on July 4 to be in peak running condition.
Among those to receive degrees in the University of Virginia law school today are Robert Y. Conrad Philip Williams of Winchester and George Washington Lewis of Berryville. The ceremony marks 96 graduates, the largest class in the university’s history.

The remains of George Harrison Byrd of Winchester died at his New York home were brought to Berryville Clarke County and laid to rest at Old Chapel near Millwood.
