Strange Storm of Ice From the Sky Over Frederick County
A green cloud spawned a severe hailstorm Friday afternoon near Hunting Ridge in north Frederick County. On the Loy and Fries farms the hail clogged ravines, with blocks of ice frozen together and burying soil a foot and a half deep. Eyewitnesses and Dr. Frank T. Pine report the event. residents used the ice to make ice cream and beverages despite crop damage.

Polk Fletcher died at his residence on South Main Street at 11 this morning after a three month illness. Born a slave at Stephens City he later worked as a shoemaker and for ten years as a drayman. He leaves a widow and son Joseph Fletcher of Pittsburg. funeral tomorrow at 3 from John Mann Methodist Church with Morning Star Lodge No 1461 IOOF in attendance.
