Officers Elected By Local Eagles

Winchester Aerie No 824 Fraternal Order of Eagles elected officers for the coming year at the annual meeting held at the Eagles hall on North Main Street. W. L. Kuhn was named worthy president. Thomas Conner, saloon keeper, bound for gambling room

Warrant sworn after Charles and William Whitley accused Thomas P. Conner of keeping a gambling den above his North Main saloon. Mayor Baker set a $500 bond to ensure compliance with the law, with no immediate fine. A police room fracas followed as the Whirleys clashed with officers. the case was dismissed after testimony.

Trustees Take Direction of Shenandoah Valley Academy

The Shenandoah Valley Academy board met at E Holmes Boyd's residence to address the death of Principal James B Lovett. The academy will continue through the session with a temporary replacement and Mrs Lovett to supervise until June. The board plans to appoint a new principal for the next session beginning in September after a thorough investigation.

Funeral for Edna Shull Miller Died at Age 2

The funeral for Edna Shull Miller age 2 years 26 days daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Miller will be at 3 PM Saturday from their residence 611 South Kent Street. Revs. Kern and Beale will officiate. Interment Mount Hebron Cemetery. She leaves parents two brothers Warry and Belliett and two sisters Millard and Minna. Mrs Bevan of Millwood Dies at 46

Mrs Mary Carey Bevan wife of Archibald Bevan of Millwood Clarke county died at Hazlewood on the Berryville road at 11 last night after a long illness heart disease. She was 46 and survived by her husband and Dr Guynn Harrison of Brier Creek W Va. Funeral services will be at Christ Church Millwood with burial at the old Chapel in the family plot. She was a devout member of the church and admired by many in Clarke county and Winchester.

Magician Durno Delights Shenandoah Audience

The Shenandoah Valley Academy Athletic Association hosted Durno the magician for an evening show at the Auditorium. A good-sized crowd attended though cadets were absent due to the death of Prof. J B Lovett, the academy’s principal, and the event proceeded via the Lyceum Bureau management.
