Arthur Lemmpkins, a well known young colored man from Winchester, died yesterday in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from appendicitis. His remains will be brought home tomorrow and interred in the Colored Cemetery after services at the home of William Parks. He had undergone two operations. his mother is married to Charlie Hall the barber.

Mrs. Robt Beatty of Warren County Va was fatally injured when she stepped from a waiting room and walked in front of Norfolk and Western engine No 28 as it pulled into Charles Town station. The car wheels severed both legs. she died about an hour later in hospital.

Capt George W Kurtz recalls an antebellum invitation to a October 19 1899 anniversary ball of the Continental Morgan Guards. The note lists managers and citizens organizers and notes only Kurtz and John H Shiner survive. The group formed in 1855 and later joined the Confederate army, fighting four years after Harpers Ferry and John Brown.
