Richmond reports that Winchester held Virginia’s first all woman jury to decide a suit between Mme Zentmyer dressmaker and Mrs Juliet Hathaway, who ordered gowns that allegedly did not fit. Mr Peter M Conrad a Confederate veteran died at his home in Reister town Maryland. He was 66 and died from heart trouble after two years of illness. As a young man he joined the Tenth Virginia Infantry in Stonewall Jacksons brigade and was captured at Winchester. In 1867 he married Katherine V Yingling and is survived by two sisters Mrs Sarah Kerlinger of Philadelphia and Mrs Nannie Peacock of Baltimore.

Runaway Horse Critical Injures Five Year Old on Cork Street
Clinton Grim, five, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Grim, was struck by a runaway horse attached to J. B. Haldeman’s wagon on Cork Street at two in the afternoon. He was taken to Dr. P. W. Boyd Jr. for treatment after the horse veered from South Kent Street. Witnesses report the boy remained unconscious with a severe concussion and possible brain blood clot, with uncertain chances of recovery.

Mrs Sally Houston Riddle widow of Horatio Ross Riddle died Wednesday afternoon November 29 in her 85th year. She was born to Rebecca Hunter and John Houston of Mercersburg Pa and was a longtime Charlestown resident respected for kindness and hospitality. Survived by three daughters Mrs A W McDonald and Misses Katie and Anna Riddle. Funeral held Friday with interment at Edge Hill Cemetery.
