Mad horse crashes through yard injuring visitor at Stephens City
Miss Grace Leech of Hagerstown Maryland suffered severe bruises after a runaway horse at Mrs. P H Strode’s residence in Stephens City dragged a buggy and leaped a wheat binder a road wagon a spring tooth harrow and a three foot wood pile before overturning the buggy. She was carried inside and later able to return home. The horse survived the perilous feat and the buggy was wrecked.

Nail Found In Horse Windpipe After Livery Death
A valuable black mare owned by Mr. R. M. Henry of Market Street died after pneumonia symptoms. Dr. Cole opened the body and found a seven inch 20 penny spike lodged in the windpipe, believed swallowed during a meal and causing fatal inflammation.

The three year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Ruple died Sunday morning in Martinsburg West Virginia from whooping cough and brain trouble. The body was taken to Pine Grove Frederick County Virginia today for burial.

The Rev C C Wainwright a noted colored Free Baptist preacher from Charlestown died Saturday afternoon at the residence of Rev Jno C Newman on West Church Street Hagerstown. He was about 55 and well known in the Shenandoah Valley. He was associated with Ohare College in Harpers Ferry for interment.
