The Postal Service will discontinue Nain Albany White Hall post offices on August 31 as a new free delivery route from Winchester to Pughtown and Martinsburg becomes effective August 16. Rural carrier John Seal Jr. will serve nearby residents starting August 16.

Her funeral is at 8 pm Thursday from 21 North Main Street with burial in Bushnell lot Mount Hebron Cemetery. Rev George S Bowers of Grace Church will officiate. Surviving are brother George B Bushnell and sister Margaret Lillian Bushnell. The family’s loss casts gloom over Winchester and Cumberland connections.

Falling Horse Draws Big Crowd at County Yard
At about 10 o'clock a large crowd gathered at the Market and Water streets county hitching yard to view a horse reported to be dying with a broken neck. The Western horse belonged to William Clark of near Boyce Clarke County who untied his team and left it tied near a stall while he attended to business. Officials believe the injury occurred when the animal stamped on wood flooring as the team became irritated by fires. The horse was not considered dangerously injured.

Contractor James S. Gardner of Stephens City has begun digging the foundation for a brick two story annex to Hansbrough & Carter on North Main Street. The 25 by 45 foot addition, built against the west end of the present four story building, will house owners offices and the Winchester and Washington City Railway on the first floor, with the Bell Telephone Company occupying the second floor. Completion is targeted for October 1.
