Farmers warn of dire stock water scarcity as streams dry up and ponds risk freezing. While some forecast rain, others expect no substantial precipitation before snow. Wheat appears to fare better, with reports from Mt Zion and Providence noting sprouting grain and promising yields.
Supreme Court Justice John M. Harlan will visit Transylvania University in Lexington next Monday. He is a former student and will be welcomed by University officials and Governor Augustus Willson. The schedule includes addresses of welcome, a luncheon, and a reception by the Bar Association.
There will be no services tomorrow morning at the Old Baptist Church. Regular services are scheduled for seven o'clock tomorrow night.
A Lexington report claimed Kentucky Wesleyan forced cancellation, but Transylvania officials say the game was called off by Transylvania after negotiations failed for adequate Lexington advertising and a large crowd. Prof Moore had sought to schedule the match and prepared the team before receiving Sweeney’s letter.

In a collision between freight trains of the Ann Arbor railroad at Lakeland Michigan on November 21 two train men named Andrew Geejan and William Ryan and the fireman were killed and three trainmen injured.
The through train on the L N from Cincinnati to Atlanta will not run until December 21 instead of November 21 as announced. There will be no changes to the local schedule until that train operates.

Miss Anna Mae Hisse fractured her arm at her North Main Street home on Friday night. She stepped from the back porch, fell, and struck the well framework, breaking the arm near the elbow. Dr Rankin set the fracture and she rested comfortably Saturday morning.
Mr and Mrs Walter Thompson of San Antonio Texas visit Prof and Mrs D A Hernsen at their South Alain Street home in this brief social note.

A sample case valued at about 40000 dollars belonging to Charles F Harts horn traveling salesman for a Newark jewelry house was stolen from the Henshaw hotel sidewalk in Omaha Nebraska. It was found in Hamburg Iowa and Charles Leonard a former porter at the hotel was arrested at St Joseph Missouri on suspicion. The 200 pound case had been left on the walk to be loaded onto an outgoing train. Leonard had checked baggage.
Colonel George M. Studebaker of South Bend Indiana offers a gold cup valued at 5000 dollars to be contested for by all entrants to the Gidden tour next year. All rules will be set by the touring committee with emphasis on completing the tour without any repairs.
Roy Bronson of Indianapolis won a decision over Kid Gorman of Boston at the Dayton Gymnastic Club after twenty rounds. Both fighters stood and traded as the gong rang, but Bronson showed clear superiority.
East Buffalo Live Stock association adopted a resolution urging railroads to cancel cattle and swine shipments to Buffalo. The group backed strict quarantine procedures led by Chief Marvin and Commissioner Pearson. Two foot and mouth disease cases were found in Niagara county and an Erie county herd was destroyed.
D. O. Meredith sold a finely bred yearling filly to J. W. Davis of Lexington for 225. The filly by Bernadette a Wilton descendant, with Prodigal as dam and George Wilkes in her lineage, shows exceptional breeding and Meredith is hopeful for her future.

The association of agricultural colleges and experiment stations concluded its annual conference selecting M. A. Scovell of Lexington Kentucky as president J. L. Hills of Burlington Vermont as secretary and treasurer W. E. Stone of Indiana W. O. Thompson of Ohio J. L. Snyder of Michigan W. H. Jordan of New York and C. F. Curtis of Idaho as members of the legislative committee.
