County Superintendent C A Tanner began a ten day jail term after losing a libel case to Miss Stevenson. He chose jail over bond or appeal, intending to appeal the judgment of $5,000. He was jailed in a new county cell and welcomed by visitors, saying he would repeat the action if needed.
Special to The News from Port of Spain Trinidad reports a battle at Macuro on the Venezuelan Coast between Castro adherents and the crew of a gunboat aligned with President Gomez. Twenty men were killed and fifty wounded as Gomez forces withdrew temporarily.
Reports from Monteleone Calabria and Rome indicate Calabria and Sicily suffered massive losses with seventy thousand total casualties. Palmi and Bagnara were heavily hit. The Pope was informed that Messina and Eggio religious communities, including bishops priests monks and nuns, were wiped out.

Several specific sales are noted with cattle averaging 700 to 750 pounds selling around 3 to 4 cents and a batch of 37 calves at $10 each.
