Heavy snows on Monday night caused trains into the city to run from 30 minutes to hours late for two days, with L N railroad services behind schedule between the city and Cincinnati. Street cars were irregular until Wednesday when tracks were cleared. Pedestrians thanked gas company manager George A Green for clearing pavements with a V shaped slide.
The grand jury, meeting since Monday, adjourned Tuesday afternoon after returning six indictments. Named defendants include Fred Chambers for seduction, John Ballard for malicious shooting, Jay Young for petit larceny on two charges, Silas Goff and Ike Mason for assault with intent to rob. Wednesday morning G W Wycoff took oath and was admitted to practice as attorney.
Dave Shearer, colored, was fined $31 and ten days in Mullins' House for carrying concealed weapons. He was arrested by Officer Strode after being found drunk at the depot with a pistol in his possession.
The funeral for Mr. Ben Goff Prewitt who died at Lexington Monday night was conducted at his mother's home on South Main Street Wednesday at 10 o'clock by Rev. William Cumming. Burial followed in Winchester cemetery with pallbearers Jas S. Winn John E. Garner M S Miller T W L Van Meter A R Sphar and A H Sympson.
County Clerk J A Boone issued a marriage license to Ira Welden and Viola Rucker of this county on Tuesday after now.
A hungry passerby was lured by a Mrs. H. C. Hart prepared supper described as too tempting to resist. The incident highlights the overpowering appeal of a well cooked meal found unexpectedly.
On Tuesday evening at a North Main Street home Mrs. Hart placed a beef roast biscuits pies and other items on the table for supper. She stepped out to call the family and returning found the table empty along with aprons and small articles missing. No trace of the culprit was found.

Charles Jones a colored prisoner serving 20 years for murder at a penitentiary in Columbus Ohio has confessed to a chaplain that Steve Scott may be innocent in the Kasmentio case. Jones previously testified against Scott at trial claiming Scott’s guilt. Scott maintains his innocence and fears execution while Jones asserts he lied at trial. The case may require new legal action but is constrained by double jeopardy rules.
Miss Minnie Hensley aged 24 died at her Mt. Sterling pike home Tuesday night of pneumonia. She was a Goshen Old Baptist Church member. She is survived by her mother Mrs. Rebecca Hensley, four brothers Richard Will George and John Hensley, and sister Mrs. Mary Carl. Funeral Thursday at noon, burial in Alien burying ground.

An 11 year old boy and a 9 year old girl testified against Abraham Roth in a New York murder trial. The wife and mother was found stabbed on a fire escape. Vincennes Indiana December 7 The Rev Andrew Oester Rector of St Francis Xaviers Catholic Church framed murder as a sin but argued self defense is the only justifiable cause for killing. He urged temper control warning anger breeds harm and envy leads to murder stressing moral restraint and rejoicing in others prosperity.

Horace H. Brockway a renowned hotelier and high ranking Mason died at Park Avenue Hotel in Manhattan at age 78. Born November 24 1836 in Sutton New Hampshire he built the City Hotel in Cleveland and later ran Broadway Central Ashland House. He held multiple posts including Treasurer Garfield Safe Deposit Company President Hotelmen's Mutual Benefit Association and founder of Hoboken Turtle Club. Survived by his elder brother John of Coontocook NH.
Mr Hume Clay died suddenly of heart trouble Tuesday evening at his farm about seven miles from the city. He had felt well that day after months of illness and was found dead in the bathroom by his wife. Survived by his wife four children and two former wives. funeral at Paris Pike residence Thursday at 10 with burial at Paris cemetery at 12:50. Rev Cary Morgan to conduct services at the house and grave.
