Insurgents land forces near Athens as Constantine abdicates in favor of the crown prince after an ultimatum. War ships and air power bolster the insurrectionists who threaten Thrace. Vice Admiral Long sails from Paris to Constantinople as 3,000 British troops depart Aldershot.
King Constantine abdicates before 7 PM after revolutionary pressure and an exchange dispatch from Athens reports his acceptance of cabinet resignations. The Greek cabinet also resigns amid ultimatums from the Lemnos cruiser as civil war fears rise. About 3,000 troops depart Aldershot for the Near East.
Reports from Athens say a revolutionary movement led by G Tal Gonapas dethroned King Constantine, who abdicated in favor of the Crown Prince. Insurgents land troops near Athens and threaten to dissolve the National Assembly, while martial law is proclaimed and pro Entente cabinets are demanded.
Clarence Ritter, 14, to state reform school and Edward Brill, 19, held for grand jury after police court hearing. They accuse each other of stealing a shotgun and case belonging to B R Anderson. The gun, valued at 36 dollars, was found later in a clump of bushes but remains missing. Anderson bought it for 100 dollars many years ago and valued it higher today.
Sherman brothers of Chambersville and Richards Brothers export firms report strong returns from York Imperial apples. Each barrel nets about 4.14 dollars as 15 carloads head to New York for Baltic steamer shipment to Liverpool. Nelson F. Richards oversees southern Virginia to Norfolk export flow. Alva Richards ships 1000 barrels from Tablers to be exported.

The United States Bureau of Mines reports July gasoline production at 56 711 415 gallons, a 44 million gallon rise from June and 56 million above May. The year over year increase reaches 150 million gallons.

The funeral of Mrs. Susan na Davidson Boxwell widow of Aaron Boxwell was held at Williamsport Maryland with a large gathering. Services were conducted by Rev Walter Mark Depp and Rev J F Morgan. Interment at Mount Hebron. pallbearers included George H Eagle John H Seal Sr John Renner Stewart A Seabright William B Flemister Nat Hawkins. All children attended except Ellsworth Boxwell of Pittsburgh. Nora Davidson and Edward Davidson attended.

Beatrice Isabelle Pollard aged six, daughter of Mr and Mrs Louis Pollard, died at 4 pm at 378 South Market Street after several days unconscious. Doctors could not confirm a diagnosis but treated her diligently. Born October 14 1916 she would have turned six next month. Funeral at Centenary Reformed Church at 3 pm officiated by Rev Clarence Woods with burial in Mount Hebron Cemetery. She was active in Centenary Sunday school.
George Ash was arrested by federal prohibition agents near Gerrardstown on a liquor transportation charge. A. J. Moore of Martinsburg was found in the car. a woman reportedly fled into the mountains and remained at large. Officers say Ash was breaking jugs of liquor when seized.
United States Senator Joseph Frelinghuysen won renomination in New Jersey by more than two to one over George L. Reckord. He carried 20 counties and led Mercer by about 2,000 votes. 146,933 to 69,922 from 2054 districts. He will face Democrat Edward S. Edwards in November.
The Sarah Zane Fire Company held a final meeting to finalize travel plans for the Harrisburg convention next week. Delegates H Willis, R L Gray, H R Potts, v Brown, J W McDonald, Leewrn, J N Moling, L F Trier and J H Colvin will vote on business affairs. Seagrave Fire Apparatus will cover truck transport costs.
Youngstown Ohio September 27 The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad will declare an embargo on coal shipments to Lake ports due to the Lake sailors strike. The railroad already has 7500 cars of coal at Lorraine and today issued an order lifting the embargo on less than car load shipments on the main line.

Mr and Mrs Edwin T Snider of this city celebrate the arrival of a 10 pound boy born last Sunday. Mr Snider is the son of Mr and Mrs W B Snider and his wife Miss Beth formerly of Winchester. Both mother and son are well and thriving.
Jurors were chosen for the trial of John L. Smith and Charles Carey, two of the five principals in the William B. Norris murder case. The panel started with eleven. William N. Colliflower was excused after a conflict surfaced with Harry B. Wolf associate. Later the jury was completed and the trial proceeded before Judge Gorter.
Twelve automobiles are secured to haul Friendship Fire Company members to Harrisburg Pa for the big firemen’s convention. Members will travel by car or train, and the drum corps will accompany the party.
