Bias Charged Over Prince George High Band Racial Exclusion
Civil rights leader Rev. Curtis W. Harris protested to three federal agencies claiming Negroes are excluded from Prince George High School's renowned band. Band director Mazza denied the charge noting Negro students participate in classes and that standards will not be lowered. The band, invited to the 1969 Rose Bowl Parade, has won many awards and continued to field diverse players.
