Cotton Crop Forecast Tops Last Month by 50 000 Bales
The Agriculture Department today forecast a cotton crop of 15 219 000 bales of 500 pounds gross weight, 50 000 bales above last month’s estimate of 15 169 000. The projection compares with 11 851 000 bales produced last year and the ten year average of 12 014 000. Acreage for harvest is put at 23 323 000 acres, up from 21 148 000 last year and the ten year average of 23 845 000.
