Workmen uncover an array of relics at Fay’s Spring as it is developed for Winchester’s water supply. A prehistoric sabre tooth and a buffalo skull with horn fragments were found buried in muck near the spring. The discoveries suggest the site was a popular watering spot long before white settlers arrived.
Washington reports representatives of major newspapers approved a nationwide salvage campaign led by the American Newspapers Association.
