Rufus Ashby Weakley of Nethers Va died yesterday at Memorial Hospital from influenza after a brief illness. The 19 year old had worked in Frederick county orchards, was admitted in a weakened state, and refused nourishment. His body will be taken to Nethers for funeral Wednesday.

Washington October 28 The German government has taken cognizance of the President of the United States reply noting changes in its constitutional structure and that peace negotiations are conducted by the people's government. The military powers are subject to it and Germany awaits proposals for an armistice as the last step toward a just peace.
Mr. F A Jacques of Winchester, traveling for the eel Glove Company, recovered from pneumonia in Hagerstown Maryland after onions poultices were applied to his chest by his wife. Doctors had given up, but by morning the fever vanished and he resumed travel for the glove firm. Mr Owen of the company noted his good health yesterday.
The body of Paul William Harrison Baker, two years old, son of Jacob W. Baker of Cumberland Maryland, died there last Friday. His body arrived by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad this afternoon and was taken to his grandfather J. A. Bean’s home on Millwood Road near town. The funeral will be held tomorrow at ten in the morning from the residence, with interment in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Reverend George W. Stover of the United Brethren Church will officiate. The child died of pneumonia. Mr Baker, the father, was a former resident of this county.

Private Arthur Nelson died at Fort McHenry after contracting Spanish influenza which developed into pneumonia during treatment. He was 26 years old, the son of George and unnamed Nelsons of near High View West Virginia. Burial followed at the Christian Church cemetery after services conducted by Rev. Alderson.
