In a Scottish port on October 26 night, British and American officers expect the German high seas fleet to dash out soon. Admiral Beatty is quoted as certain the German fleet will come out for battle within the month, with up to 8 000 ships engaged and possibly 3 000 casualties anticipated if it assaults the Allied lines. The fleet has held its strength for four years and will likely show a strong offensive this spring if forced to retreat.

Washington oct 26 Miss Ella Flage Young noted educator and former superintendent of Chicago public schools died today at 9 am from influenza in her Washington apartment. She led patriotic service as a member of the national women's Liberty Loan committee and was the first woman to head a major U S public school system.
Brice H. Leathers of this city received word that his brother Robert Leathers died in Washington DC He was a longtime resident of Washington and a native of Stephens City aged 56 He leaves a widow and will be buried in Washington.
Miss Lokey of Winchester reports the death of Mrs Mary Susan See wife of Mrs Van Lee at Broadway West on Thursday from heart trouble following influenza. Born Mechanicsville July 27 1875 she married July 14 1898. Survived by husband four children two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services led by Rev J R Brown were held at Paders Church cemetery at 10 o clock yesterday morning.
